Dining Room Interior Design

Dining Room Interior Designer

deGuise Interiors designs dining rooms of every kind, a formal room saved for holidays, a small dining area that also handles homework and mail, or an open layout that runs straight into the kitchen. A dining room should work for how you actually live in it, not just how it photographs.

Work with a dining room interior designer who plans the whole room at once, table, chairs, lighting, rug, and finishes, then manages sourcing and installation so the plan gets carried out.

What We Offer

Dining Room Interior Design Services

Our dining room interior design service brings the entire room together, from the furniture and lighting to the colors, fabrics, and finishes. We design the dining area around the size and layout of the room, selecting a dining table, chairs, and a bench or banquette when the space allows. Extendable tables can also provide flexibility when more seating is needed.

We select upholstery, fabrics, and colors that work with the rest of the room, along with an area rug, chandelier or pendant, sideboard, and other furniture. Wallpaper, window treatments, mirrors, artwork, and other decorative details can add pattern, texture, and personality. Each element is selected to complement the others, creating a dining room that feels balanced, comfortable, and finished.

How We Work

Our Dining Room Interior Design Process

Every dining room project follows the same steps, focused on design and sourcing rather than construction.

STEP 01

Consultation

We talk through how you use the room, how often you host, and what’s staying versus changing. This is also where we take stock of any pieces you already own and want to keep, so the plan works around them instead of replacing them by default.

STEP 02

Concept & Design Direction

We build a plan around the room’s existing footprint and your style, whether that’s a formal room built for entertaining or a smaller, more everyday dining space. This covers the table, seating, lighting, rug, and finishes together, as one plan, rather than a string of separate decisions.

STEP 03

Product & Material Sourcing

We select the table, seating, lighting, rug, and finishes from our trusted vendors, matching fabric and material choices to how the room actually gets used, whether that means performance fabrics for a household with kids or a more durable stone top for everyday wear.

STEP 04

Ordering & Procurement

We manage ordering and track timelines for everything selected, including custom or made-to-order pieces that take longer to arrive. You’ve already seen and felt the materials in the studio, so nothing about the order is a surprise, we’re just tracking it until it reaches the room.

STEP 05

Delivery & Installation

We coordinate delivery and installation, placing every piece and doing the final styling, so the room is finished when we’re done, not just furnished.

About This Room

What We Consider in Every Dining Room

A dining room used a few times a year needs a different plan than one that handles dinner every night. We think through how often you host, how the room connects to the kitchen or living space, and whether it needs to read as its own room even without walls around it. In older homes, that often means designing around original trim and woodwork worth keeping. In smaller dining areas, it usually means being more deliberate about scale, so the table and seating fit the room without crowding it.

Design Styles

Dining Room Design for Every Style

Every dining room we design reflects the style of the home around it. We work in traditional, coastal, and transitional styles most often, though every project gets built around your specific space.

Interior Designing Dining rooms

Traditional Dining Room Design

A traditional dining room is built on well-balanced furniture, evenly arranged, in warm wood tones like cherry and mahogany. A chandelier with real presence, often in a candle-style design, sets the tone for the room. The overall feel is formal, but still warm and lived-in rather than stiff.

Coastal Dining Room Design

Light woods, linen upholstery, and an airy palette of white, blue, and sandy neutrals define the look. Natural textures like rattan and jute add warmth. Everything feels easy and unfussy, in keeping with the coast.

deGuise Interiors projects

Transitional Dining Room Design

Classic furniture shapes pair with updated fabrics on a neutral foundation. The mix keeps the room from feeling dated as trends shift. It’s the style most homes settle into over time.
